The Port of San Diego is treating drivers of hybrid cars first class.
The five city agency that manages the port tidelands around San Diego Bay recently designated two parking spaces next to its main office on Pacific Highway as for exclusive use by hybrid vehicles.
“We’re trying to be good stewards of the environment and we’re providing a spot for those who have hybrids,” said spokesman John Gilmore.
The spaces were painted Oct. 9 in yellow and clearly state “Hybrid Veh. Only.”
The port district plans to paint four other spaces in the same way at its employee lot across the street, Gilmore said.
